Applying to Australian Universities: UAC, State Services & Early Offers
UAC comes up often, but not every Australian university application goes through it. Start with your applicant category and the route your university asks you to use.

Admissions services and universities have different roles
UAC processes applications to participating institutions, mainly in NSW and the ACT, and calculates NSW ATARs. Universities set their admission criteria. Other main services are VTAC (Victoria), QTAC (Queensland), SATAC (SA/NT) and TISC (WA). Direct applications, including Tasmanian arrangements, also exist. The state you live in is not, by itself, what decides your application route.
Check domestic or international status first
Having a Japanese family background or attending an Australian school does not, on its own, tell you which applicant category applies. Citizenship/residency can affect the route, fees and documents. International Year 12 applications may differ from domestic applications; follow the university’s instructions.
Early entry and conditional offers
Early schemes may use Year 11 results, recommendations or other evidence. A conditional offer requires specified outcomes such as completion, minimum results, prerequisites or English competence before it becomes final. Also keep UAC SRS separate from early-entry schemes run by individual universities; their rules are not interchangeable.

Order preferences by genuine preference
In ordinary UAC undergraduate selection, applicants generally receive up to one offer per round, for their highest eligible preference. Early conditional offers can have different arrangements. Check separate deadlines for acceptance, enrolment and preference changes for later rounds.
